We used Casey’s Removals on recommendation from a friend who moved from London to Devon. Impressed from the start, put our worries and queries to rest. Packers the day before were brilliant – moving team next day were, again, brilliant, nothing too much trouble. On arrival in North Yorkshire, we not able to reverse large lorry up the drive, due to ground clearance, so the guys had to carry the extra distance from the road -but – no grumbles. Adam and your team, thanks for your excellent and cheerful service and for bringing half our old garden along as well.
Thanks again from Anne and David Blake.

Historically Catford was a district of the county of Kent before being absorbed into the London County Council in 1869. Today it is part off the London Borough of Lewisham.
Though the name of Catford is first recorded in 1254 it wasn’t until the arrival of the railways that any substantial development took place. The opening of Catford Bridge Station in 1857 saw the building of housing for the more prosperous middle classes. The opening of Catford station and the arrival of Tram services in 1892 encouraged landowners to sell their farms and land for the development of large estates for clerical and lower middle class workers.
Between the two wars further development saw the building of numerous places of entertainment – a theatre, concert hall and the Greyhound Track with which most Londoners are familiar.
Try as the council might through regeneration Catford has never been an area with huge appeal either as a tourist destination or a great place to live. Indeed, Spike Milligan’s poem ‘Catford 1933’ describes well the grinding nature of life in the area in all its glory. Things do change however. The site of the now closed dog track has been used to build just under 600 new homes bringing badly needed housing and jobs to the area. The area also has a varied selection of bars and restaurants adding to the buzzing atmosphere that has developed over the last decade.
The area also boasts one of South London’s oldest surviving theatres with the Broadway Theatre which was extensively refurbished in 2003.
