Good coffee, nice atmosphere. We came here every day whilst running the PopUp Business School in Croydon for our morning coffee. Opens early at 7:30am and has a nice atmosphere! Liam and I loved it here.
Nineteen at Farleigh
Old Farleigh Road, Warlingham, Croydon CR6 9PE
A mixed bag of reviews, but here is Claire’s, though not for breakfast.
Afternoon tea. I took my mum and 10 year old daughter for afternoon tea at Farleigh Golf club today and it was perfect from beginning to end. The staff were so attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. They made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The afternoon tea was absolutely lovely and tasted incredible. One of the best afternoon teas I’ve had. My 10 year olds was just as good and she loved feeling special having her own afternoon tea. I couldn’t fault the experience and will certainly bring going back again!
17-21 George Street, Croydon CR0 1LA
Though The George is a pub, it does serve breakfasts, so here is Leslie of Sittingbourne’s thoughts about his experience:
Breakfast at the George. Before travelling home my wife and I had decided to have breakfast at the George. This being a Wetherspoons establishment we knew the menu and this is the main selling point of this chain. No matter where you are you are guaranteed a good meal and a drink at a reasonable price with good service. It was the 26th of July and another hot summers day. Fortunately the pub was cool and we chose a table near the upper bar, near the bar and kitchen so that we did not have far to go. I ordered the traditional breakfast for both of us. This is really the Full English and comes complete with toast and butter so is a very satisfying way of starting the day. I also paid for coffee for two . This has the advantage of being re-fillable and the machine is simple to use, having a touch screen system. Our food soon arrived and was delivered by a charming young lady. The meal, as usual, was very good and we both enjoyed a second mug of coffee before catching a tram to the railway station.
219 Wickham Road, Shirley, Croydon CR0 8TG
Mesi of Bromley gives their thoughts about having breakfast at the Shirley Cafe in Croydon:
Came for a healthy breakfast! Had a very healthy breakfast, my wife enjoyed a great Coffe. Hands down best cafe in town. Staff are super nice, very good selection on the menu with a good fresh healthy range. Full 5/5 from me.
Marmaris Cafe Croydon
75 Mitchley Avenue, Croydon CR2 9HN
The following thoughts come from AFCBade, who regularly visits the Marmaris Cafe for breakfast:
Always my first choice for a cooked breakfast. Friendly cafe with a really wide choice of menu but I always go for the cooked breakfast as it’s so good! Food served quickly but very fresh. My choice isn’t listed on the set menu but they are always happy to serve this combination. Recommend.
38 George Street, East Croydon, Croydon CR0 1PB
Lamptechonthenet of Purley gives their thoughts about their experiences at eating at Croydon’s Scrumpchinos:
Outstanding Breakfast & Value. I visited post the breakfast rush at about 9.30 am. I chose from the set breakfasts that included 2 toast & coffee. The toast came first & was great hot & on quality thick bread . Then came the breakfast bubble , fried egg , bacon & sausage & The coffee. The breakfast was well cooked , hot & had quality ingredients not massive but enough . The coffee was way above expectation especially as it was part of the set meal. The value at just £ 6.25 was remarkable considering the quality of everything served & I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or return myself
1 Matthews Yard, Off Surrey Street, Croydon CR0 1FF
Here is Sean’s thoughts and experiences about eating at Matthews Yard of Croydon:
The best burgers in Croydon! Having eaten at ‘5 Guys’, ‘Meat Liquor’, & ‘Bukowski’, I can say wholeheartedly that Matthews Yard cooks the best burgers in Croydon. My ‘Boozer’, a double patty with bacon, cheddar, gherkin and onion relish, accompanied by double cooked Cajun fries, was so tasty that I had to order another burger, ‘The Classic’, which was just as satisfying. The ingredients are fresh, and there is no acid burn from reused oil found in some of the aforementioned establishments. It might be upmarket but it’s still better value – and vastly superior – than anywhere else in Croydon. The craft beers on tap are fantastic, the vibe is great with outdoor seating, and it’s a challenge to leave this place. Just off Surrey Street Market, you would think you were in Hoxton or Shoreditch it is that cool. Absolutely first rate!
The Tram Stop
231 Lower Addiscombe Road, Croydon CR0 6RD
Lynn of Surrey passes on her review about eating at Croydon’s The Tram Stop:
Great little cafe! Went here for the first time today for lunch with my daughter. Passed many places on the way which did not grab my attention. This place however got my immediate attention so I parked up.. parking free outside (almost) big bonus. Absolutely loved the place.. good menu.. spotlessly clean.. lovely decor, great coffee and lovely staff. We both had a fish finger sandwich.. beautiful fresh bread..with rocket salad.. well presented and really nice coffee. We will definitely be back!! Also reasonably priced… need I say more.. a diamond in the rough!!

The following review comes from ASmith, who regularly eats at Ellys Cafe:
Treated like family! Regularly stop here for breakfast – love eating here as the food portions are huge and the service is first class with the serving staff remembering what we order. If is very welcoming and feels like we are part of the family. An excellent choice with great cleanliness in the eating area and the toilets.
